23.01.2019 - 26.01.2019 State Scientific Institution "Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", continuing the traditions and supporting its own initiative, launched in 2012, hospitably and cordially invites Minsk residents and guests of the capital to the 5th Festival-competition of ice and snow sculptures "The World of Crystals in the Botanical Garden"..The Festival has an environmental focus and provides an opportunity to attract public attention to issues of careful attitude to the nature, flora and fauna of our Motherland. The festival is held from January 23 to 26, 2019. Nine teams of professional sculptors and nine student teams of specialized faculties of state educational institutions take part in the festival. 2019 has been declared the Year of the "Small Homeland" and the participants of the event make a certain contribution to the cultural and spiritual heritage of the country with their creative work. It is very important that creative youth, with their talent and desire to participate in events, set an excellent example for the younger generation, which educates them to take an active social position as future citizens of our society. The festival will open on January 26 and will last as an exhibition of sculptures until February 3, 2019. From the first days of the festival, visitors to the botanical garden will be able to see and appreciate the skill of the best sculptors, be participants in the moment when ice crystals turn into works of snow and ice art, which requires from the masters not only the ability to carve beautiful sculptures from ice, but also great patience, courage to work in any weather. After seeing the beauty of snow and ice sculptures against the backdrop of the fabulous winter landscape of the botanical garden, visitors will receive an extraordinary boost of energy, emotional, aesthetic pleasure and a great mood. The grand opening of the 5th Festival-competition of snow and ice sculptures will take place on January 26, 2019 at 14.30. It includes: a ceremonial presentation of ice sculptures to the public; summing up the results of the festival-competition; visitors will be able to vote for their favorite sculpture in the nomination "Audience Award"; presentation of Diplomas for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the festival-competition; a gala concert with with the participation of the group "Without a ticket", an entertaining quiz and competitions with prizes - hosted by the famous TV and radio host Pavel Lazovik; musical pyrotechnic show at 18:30. There are retail outlets and winter attractions on the territory of the garden. A bonus for visitors is a hot tea treat from the botanical garden - it will be a special pleasure in the fresh air. In addition, the exhibition greenhouse of tropical plants will welcome everyone and surprise with an exhibition loved by many Minsk residents and guests of the capital - an exhibition of exotic and songbirds. Cheerful "talkative" pets will not only expand our knowledge of birds from different regions of the world, but will bring adults and children true pleasure from close contact with them. Since January 26, the sculptures have been equipped with lighting, so they are especially beautiful in the evening.
