The Central Botanical Garden invites you to the citrus greenhouse for meetings with the curator of the collection and the most famous citrus grower in Belarus, Anton Ivanovich Alekhn.

More than a third of all fruits collected on Earth are citrus fruits. It is safe to say that citrus fruits are one of the most popular and beloved plants on our planet.

The collection of subtropical fruit crops began to form back in 1974. In 1991, citrus plants were separated into a separate collection. Since the formation of the citrus collection, its curator has been Anton Ivanovich Alekhn.

The basis of the collection is made up of 7 species of the genus Citrus: lemon, sweet orange, unshiu mandarin, pomelo, grapefruit, citron, limetta and 2 species of the genus Fortunella - Fortunella japonica and Fortunella margarita. An important place is occupied by varieties of our own selection: lemon ‘Aromatny’, grapefruit ‘Orange dwarf’, pomelo ‘Bogatyr’. Hybrids and hybrids of complex origin are successfully cultivated: citron ‘Pavlovsky Shishkan’, clementine ‘Cafin’, tangor ‘Temple’.
