The peony collection of the botanical garden has more than sixty years of history. Today, it has about 320 varieties. The peony collection of the botanical garden is represented by varieties of selection from different countries: Russia, Ukraine, France, America. In recent years, flower lovers have shown great interest in tree peonies, as well as hybrids characterized by unusual flower colors for peonies - yellow, apricot, greenish, etc. One of the most valuable varieties of the collection is "Festiva Maxima" (white), created almost 150 years ago, and nowadays winning prizes at international exhibitions. The birthplace of the first peonies is considered to be Asia, southern Europe and western North America. In general, there is a lot of symbolism in the history of peonies, especially in Eastern culture. In China, even today, the peony is treated as a divine flower and is respected. The tree peony is a symbol of China. In India, it is recognized as the state flower. According to tradition, peonies, the main symbol of good luck and a happy marriage, must be present in a wedding bouquet. As part of the developing cultural cooperation between Belarus and China, the organizers invited the Chinese Culture Club "CangJie" to take part in the event. The event is also attended by the Public Association of Eastern Culture and Traditions "HAGAKURE" and the Festival of Designer Products "The Image of Belarus". Bright interactive performances, educational and cognitive talks, master classes and other interesting highlights of the program will be presented to our visitors by Chinese friends and specialists in Eastern culture and traditions.
