"Garden of contemporary sculpture in installations and art objects"

16.07.2017 - 16.07.2017
The Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the pearl of the Republic and is known to many city residents and guests of the capital as one of the most beautiful and favorite places for contemplating and admiring nature, decorative plant collections and as a wonderful place to relax. However, few, of course, with the exception of excursionists who gain knowledge on excursions to the botanical garden, know that the territory of the garden is divided into a landscape park, an arboretum, a sector of Belarusian flora and a lake complex. The arboretum is planned according to the botanical and geographical principle and includes sectors of floras of different regions of the world - the Far East and East Asian countries, North America, Europe, Siberia, Central Asia, Crimea and the Caucasus. Currently, about 2,000 species of woody plants grow on its territory, among which there are both widely used in the practice of green construction and rare exotic species. The project of the botanical garden staff and the talented work of professional sculptors will help visitors get to know the arboretum of the botanical garden in more detail, and therefore, thanks to the plants, visit many regions of the world. Using the territory of the arboretum, which includes seven geographical sectors, as an exhibition area, the sculptors will have to reveal the theme of associations with certain geographical regions. For example, the sculpture "Kakheti Lion" will decorate the Caucasus sector. It is based on an archaeological find of a bronze lion statuette, dating back to the 3rd century BC, on the territory of the Kakheti Kingdom. This object was significant for the ancient Caucasus and now serves as a masterpiece of world art. So, the sculptors will have to create 7 sculptures, and visitors will have to determine which regions of the world they represent. Talented creative works will decorate the botanical garden, serve as photo zones and will enrich visitors' knowledge of the biological diversity of the garden's plants. We invite all Minsk residents and guests of the capital to visit the "sculpture garden" and the arboretum of the botanical garden, to become an active participant in an interactive quest, an educational and cultural-educational event. As part of the event, at 14.00, for all comers, a tour guide of the botanical garden will conduct a tour of the "sculpture garden". And the most active visitors with a map of the arboretum in hand, will themselves determine the geographic sectors and the sculptures associated with them. The presentation of the artistic art plein air will take place at 13.00. Visitors will enjoy musical surprises, playgrounds, a good mood and new impressions. Entrance to the landscape zone of the botanical garden is paid - 6 Belarusian rubles - for all categories of citizens.
