24.04.2021 - 25.04.2021 From April 24 to 25, 2021, an exhibition of succulents will be held, where you can get acquainted with samples of Mexican flora, which are carefully grown and preserved in the Stock Greenhouse of the Botanical Garden, thanks to the painstaking work and knowledge of scientific staff. Why Mexican specimens, you ask? Mexico is a Mecca for all cactus lovers. There are a huge number of species of these amazing plants on its territory. Since time immemorial, cacti were used by ancient Indians as food, used for various rituals, and served as fences. In addition to cacti, Agaves were also widely used: they made ropes, sandals, clothes, ate leaves and made drinks. Therefore, today, the most interesting samples of Mexican flora from the Stock Greenhouse of the Botanical Garden were at the exhibition, organized on the eve of the opening of the summer season of the Central Botanical Garden. Fans of these plants will be able to learn more interesting information and watch the flowering of individual representatives of succulents. Compact mammillaria and astrophytum, impressive cephalocersus, frightening ferocactus, edible prickly pears and other equally interesting specimens will help to touch the history of an ancient civilization, lift the veil of secrecy that shrouds the life of the Aztecs.
