Exhibition of Ikebana and Sumi-e "Oriental Colors"

06.10.2023 - 22.10.2023

From October 6 to 22, from 10:00 to 17:00 The Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus invites you to visit the exhibition of Japanese art  ikebana and sumi-e "Oriental Colors".

The change of seasons has a special meaning in Japanese culture. With the onset of autumn, the trees are painted in bright colors, the momijigari season begins - the custom of admiring autumn foliage. The crimson of maples, the golden glow of ginkgo, the noble and restrained appearance of chrysanthemums - all this serves as a source of inspiration for artists and poets.

Ikebana is a traditional Japanese art of arranging flowers and shoots in special vases. The leading principles of this art are simplicity, asymmetry and seeming incompleteness with a deep philosophical basis for the plot and elaboration of the details of the composition.

Sumi-e is a type of monochrome painting that uses black ink and a wide range of gray tones that arise when mixing ink with water. With simple brush movements and a painting style, the sumi-e artist reveals the spirit of nature.

The exhibition will feature laconic flower arrangements from the Kado Flower Arrangement School and the ART Studio of the Hagakure Public Association of Eastern Culture and Traditions.
