The sunny optimistic shades of chrysanthemums delight us when other plants have already faded. At present, the chrysanthemum is one of the leading flower and ornamental crops of gardening, known for about two thousand years and recognized in many countries. The collection of the Central Botanical Garden presents more than 200 varieties of this crop, which can be seen in the collection area. From September 22 to October 1, from 10:00 to 17:00 The Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus presents to your attention the exhibition "Flowers of Autumn". The exhibition will be held in the exhibition pavilion. The exposition will present all the diversity of this plant in terms of inflorescence shape, color, and flowering time. Visitors will be able to see about 100 varieties of Korean chrysanthemum, both foreign and Belarusian selection. The Mirage and Wild Honey varieties will surprise you with their original flower shape, and the modern large-flowered Ellen Wiesse and Opal varieties will amaze you with their size. You will also have the opportunity to see the long-livers of the collection, for example, the Pearl variety, bred in the 60s of the last century. Sunny chrysanthemums will be complemented by bright representatives from the dahlia collection. Currently, the collection has 240 varieties, most of which belong to the group of decorative, semi-cactus and cactus dahlias. The exhibition will feature new items and varieties bred by the botanical garden, which will help you get to know this autumn beauty better. The exhibition will feature works in the Sumie technique (a type of monochrome painting similar to watercolor, which uses black ink and its shades, which are obtained by diluting the ink with water). About 20 works made in this technique by students of the Hagakure Art Studio will be presented. The studio has existed since 2013 and brings together people of different ages and professions who love Japanese culture and art. WORKSHOPS on the care and cultivation of chrysanthemums under the guidance of the curator of the collection, Svetlana Vitalievna Tsekhanovich, will be held on September 23 and 30 at 12:00 and at 14:00. Here you can learn the intricacies of: chrysanthemum cuttings; winter shelter; selecting an assortment for continuous flowering; agrotechnics in the spring-autumn period. Having selected different varieties, you can create continuous flowering in the garden from August until frost. And as the wise Eastern philosophers said: "grow chrysanthemum and you will be happy."
