History of the woody plant introduction laboratory

Construction of the garden began in 1932.

The most significant scientific works published in this period were the two volumes "Lichen Determinant of the BSSR" by Tomin M.P., the monograph "Wild fruit and berry plants of the BSSR" by 3.P. Proskurakov. They were prepared for publication in "Flora BSSR", 1st volume, "Trees and bushes for green construction of the BSSR" (ed. Sokolova S.Ya.), "Identifier of mosses of the BSSR" (Lazarenko A.S.), "Hybridization of poplars" (Nestyarovich N.D .), as well as material for the 2nd volume of "Flora of the BSSR". In the work on the book "Flora of the BSSR", the largest botanists of the country collaborated closely with garden scientists - professors B.A. Fedchenko, B.K. Shyshkin, S.Ya. Sokolov, A.S. Lazarenko, the famous dendrologist U.P. Maleev. etc.

Great merit in the creation of dendrological collections of the garden and the development of research in the field of introduction of woody plants to Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR N.D. Nestyarovich

During the German-fascist occupation, the Botanical Garden was subjected to enormous destruction.

From 1944 to the middle of 1947, the Central Botanical Garden was the only botanical-biological scientific institution in the system of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR, which explains the expansion of its scientific activities compared to the pre-war period, when together with the Botanical Garden the Institute worked. of biology. The dendrology department also functioned in the structure of the garden at that time.

In 1945, on the basis of partially preserved manuscripts, the 1st volume of "Flora of the BSSR" was restored and supplemented, a map of the natural distribution of mushrooms and wild fruits and berries in Belarus was drawn up, "Identifier of sphagnum mosses" was published (A.P. Pidoplichka) . In 1946, physiological and geobotanical studies of the main types of meadows, oaks, and wild berries (blueberries, cranberries) were significantly expanded. Work on the manuscript of the 2nd volume of "Flora of the BSSR" was successfully completed, and the 3rd volume of the "Lichen Determinant of the BSSR" was re-prepared for printing.

From 1957 to 1989. the department, then the laboratory for the introduction of woody plants, was headed by Doctor of Biological Sciences Shkutko N.V.

The first major generalization of the results of the introduction of woody plants in Belarus was a three-volume monograph by N. D. Nestyarovich. with the staff of "Introduced Trees and Shrubs of the Belarusian SSR" (1959 – 1961). In 1968, a collective work edited by N.V. Smolsky was published. "Trees, bushes, roses and lilacs".

The study of introduced woody plants in the BSSR, including pines, was conducted both in systematic and bioecological plans (Georgievsky S.D., 1925, 1931; Novikov A.L., 1931; Nestyarovich N.D., 1949, 1953, 1955; A.U., 1958, 1960; A.D. Yanushka.

A.I. Krasnik, N.M. Kupchynov, P.F. Lysakon, V.O. Pronka, A.I. Chernyankov, A.F. Ivanov, N.I. Chakalinskaya worked in the laboratory. , Trukhanovsky D.S., Panamarova A.V., Ignatovich A.V., Korzun A.M., Bely M.I., Vyglazav V.M., Lipnitsky V.A., Matytskyi M., Murashka M. P., Bibikov Yu.A., Misnik G., Horau L.M., Khotkina V.G., Vaitovich L.P., Zanina M., Kopatsy V., Gutsevich L., Novichkova T., Bulgak R. , Rebrykova A., Shurauka M.V., Ivashin L.V., Ivanov S.A., Babareka A.Z., Chakhovski A.A., Arlyanya A.I., Afanaskina I.P., Antonyuk Ya. Coniferous plants are dedicated to the monograph of N.V. Shkutko. "Exotic conifers of Belarus and their economic importance" and "Conifers, plants in the green construction of Belarus", "Conifers of Belarus" and others. Great work on the introduction and study of vines was carried out by Yu.A. Bibikov. In the work of Babarek E.3. "Hawthorn" reflects the results of the introduction of representatives of this genus. The final stage of introductory research was the book by A.A. Chakhovsky. and Shkutka N.V. "Decorative Dendrology of Belarus". The work of Batianovsky I.Ya. "Culture of rhododendrons in Belarus", A.A. Chakhovskii. and Orlyan A.I. "Tavolgi in decorative gardening", Chakhovsky A.A. and Orlyan A.I. "Honeysuckle culture in Belarus", "Weigela in Belarus", A.A. Chakhovskii, E.A. Buravai, A.I. Orlyana, L.P. Husaravai. "Beautiful flowering shrubs for gardens and parks." The collective monograph "Woody plants of the Central Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR" summarizes the results of the introduction of woody plants over the 50 years of the Garden's existence.

The most complete data on the inventory of woody exotics of Western Belarus with a brief ecological and biological description and an assessment of the prospects of the culture are given in the work of Hvedaruk A.Ts. "Introduced trees and shrubs of the western part of Belarus". He also published the monographs "Woody plants of gardens and parks of Belarus", "Garden and park art of Belarus", "Experience of introduction of deciduous woody plants in Belarus", "Ancient parks of Belarus", etc.

In 2005, the laboratory was transformed into a department for the introduction of woody plants. Since 2010 - a laboratory again.

Currently, candidates of biological sciences I.M. Horanovich work in the laboratory. - head of the laboratory, Makedonskaya N.V., Snigirov G.S., Shpitalnaya T.V. - head of the sector, scientific staff Rudzevich M.M., Grinkevich V.G., Blinkovskii A.D., agronomists and engineers Nasko N.P., Bulakh A.G., Arkharov A.U. etc.
